Inspection Support Diver

We currently have a vacancy for an Inspection Support Diver to support our Diving & Maritime Engineers at our site in Portsmouth Naval Base.

As an Inspection Support Diver, you will be assisting in the execution of Technical & Professional surveys along with working as part of a dive team supporting the planned & reactive tasks which includes various aspects of Marine Civil Engineering. Your role will also involve Confined Spaces work within the facilities infrastructure and climbing of tall fixed structures.

This exciting and diverse role will provide you with the opportunity to work on a variety Maritime Projects including Port Navigational Aids, Jetty's, Docks, Warships and Culvert Systems.

Your main responsibilities as an Inspection Support Diver will involve:

Working closely as member of a dive team using Surface Supplied Diving Equipment

Supporting the Diving & Maritime Engineers in their inspection duties

Complying with all company SHE Policies

Assisting with Surveys & Inspections in the pumping & drainage culvert system (Confined Spaces)

Climbing of fixed structures as part of the inspection team

Complying with the company Diving Manual, HSE Diving at Work Regulations 1997 and Commercial Diving Projects Inland Inshore L104 (Second Edition)

Delivering daily planned and reactive diving & maritime works in accordance with appropriate specifications

Carrying out all tasks in a safe and professional manner you must follow all reasonable instructions given by the Diving & Maritime Management Team, Dive Supervisor / Assistant Dive Supervisor

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

A valid HSE Part 1 or equivalent HSE recognised “Surface Supplied Diving” qualification with a minimum of 3 years commercial diving experience (demonstrated through evidenced logged dives).

Be competent and experienced in the diving techniques being undertaken.

A HSE approved doctor's certificate of medical fitness to dive and maintain a state of fitness to carry out diving duties.

Having a sound understanding of Marine Civil Engineering

Understanding and following Health & Safety regulations associated with inland/inshore diving operations.

Experience working in a high risk environment is essential

Experience and industry recognised qualifications in Tower Climbing & Rescue techniques.

Hold a valid Confined Space with Escape BA Training Certification.

Medical fitness to carry out tower climbing & rescue techniques and Confined Space Works

Desirable

RYA National Powerboat qualification

Current CSWIP 3.1U with evidence of logged inspection dives

You need to be a team player with the ability to work on your own. You will need to be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. You must be able to commit to a 45 hour week, Monday to Friday (07:30 to 17:15).
