Computational Fluid Dynamicist

Would you like to work within our specialist Engineering Analysis team? We currently have a vacancy for a Computational Fluid Dynamicist at our site in Glascoed.

As a Computational Fluid Dynamicist, you will be tasked with the generation and maintenance of models using commercial software to meet the growing needs of the business and customer. Generation of models is required for both aerodynamic and process based fluid flow, as well as optimisation, and heat transfer analysis.

This role will allow you to support the UK Armed Forces and work with specialist products.

Your main responsibilities as a Computational Fluid Dynamicist will involve:

Maintaining the existing database of models and simulations, including learning how to adapt these models to suit present and future requirements

Taking outputs from CFD analyses and using them within other mathematical modelling tools to determine behaviour

Generating new models, using commercial software to fulfil customer and business requirements as and when the need arises

Getting involved with technical discussion and advisory sessions with other employees and customer representatives

Managing and conducting research tasks, negotiated with customer and business to offer new capabilities to the aforementioned parties

Your skills and qualifications:

Degree in a STEM related discipline or equivalent experience (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

Some basic programming knowledge (Java, Python, MatLab or similar) would be advantageous

Some experience of using computational flow solvers (particularly Star-CCM+) - desirable

Knowledge of both transient and steady state solvers is advantageous, as well as relative motion within meshes and multiphase fluids

Experience of using meshing software such as Pointwise or Star-CCM+ Mesher - desirable

Salary: £30,000+ (Commensurate on skills and experience)
