Buildings Surveyor

Join BAE Systems at Portsmouth Naval Base and you will be become a valued member of a friendly team of busy professionals, working on an extraordinary portfolio of buildings and maritime structures including:- historic buildings, wide span steel portal frames, concrete framed buildings, masonry structures, docks, jetties, roads and bridges.

We're currently looking for talented engineering professionals with Civil, Structural, Building and M&E Surveying experience to undertake appraisals/inspections, feasibility assessments, preliminary/final designs, drawings, reports and specifications to professional standards.

Your main responsibilities as a Building Surveyor:

Working within a team you will be carrying out a wide range of surveying duties across the naval base, evaluating and diagnosing what work is required and assessing the best options to carry out the work

Compiling detailed reports/scope of works of desired solutions and producing cost estimates of proposed works

Providing technical support to other departments and the customer

Your skills and qualifications as a Buildings Surveyor:

Minimum ONC/HNC or equivalent in either a building, construction or similar discipline

Competent training skills e.g. Asbestos, Confined Spaces and Working at Height

Good knowledge of building construction technology and building pathology

Good working knowledge of the building regulations, CDM and appropriate legislation

Knowledge of and ability to apply construction related health and safety legislation and good practice

Ability to evaluate different building options, prepare a scope of works and provide estimates of proposed work

Commercial awareness and ability to assess value for money for building work carried out
