Assistant Project Manager

Would you like to work on large scale, technically complex Sonar equipment and software projects across submarine classes? We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Project Manager at our site in Frimley or Weymouth.

As an Assistant Project Manager you will be working within the Underwater Systems (UWS) Outboard team, as part of a highly motivated team to support the Dreadnought Underwater Systems Outboard Project Manager. You will conduct a full range of project activities across high value, large scale and complex Underwater Systems projects to ensure that projects in support of the Dreadnought programme are delivered to budget, time and quality.

Your main responsibilities as an Assistant Project Manager will involve:

Supporting the UWS team in delivering the large scale and complex programmes for the supply of Combat Systems equipment.
Contributing to the development of project definitions for both existing programmes and new business opportunities to ensure Customer requirements are achieved.
Preparing analysis and collating data (including determining the availability of resources) to support the effective development of more detailed plans.
Developing and maintaining coherent, fully integrated workable project plans.
Managing the generation of project progress reports on behalf of the project manager.
Monitoring, within defined frameworks and in assigned areas, activities carried out on projects to support their effective delivery.
Maintaining appropriate project documentation.
Developing and managing key relationships with sub-contractors, customers and other stakeholders to ensure all deliverables are achieved and that issues are effectively addressed.
Risk & Opportunity management for allocated projects.
Sub-Contract delivery for allocated projects in accordance with agreed schedules.

Your skills and qualifications:

Understanding the project lifecycle.

Experience in managing external supplier organisations.
A project management qualification or equivalent experience
Knowledge of project management techniques including risk and opportunity management, resource planning and estimating.
We can provide formal and on the job training for individuals keen to develop in this area

Complex Systems and Support:
Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers.
