VIE - Production Engineer

Job Purpose
The mission of the Production Engineering team and the role of the Production Engineer is twofold:
- Be the primary contact point for Portfolio Managers, Traders and Operations regarding issues with the investment platform supporting our daily, weekly, and monthly quantitative investment processes (Alpha Production, Alpha Quality)
- Maintain, monitor, qualify and enhance the investment platform supporting our global investment processes (software development and automation)

Key Accountabilities
• Facilitate the ability of our investment teams to continuously execute trade and manage portfolios efficiently with a minimum of error and/or interruption
• Support our investment teams that encounter issues with data availability and consistency, or are facing issues with specific systems in the investment platform
• Identify and resolve, or coordinate resolution of technical issues, investigating, communicating and solving issues throughout the investment platform
• Look after our investment platform automated processing, in order to produce and deliver alphas consistently, reliably, and in a timely manner
• Coordinate changes released to the investment platform and coordinate with business users to minimize the impact on the investment process
• Configure and/or implement customizations to systems that optimize the workflow for individual users, specific business processes (Research & Models, Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations)
• Maintain trading applications to enable the Investment Management companies to act upon the recommendations produced by the investment platform

Education/Qualifications

• Advanced degree or demonstrated skills in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field preferred
Experience
• Experience or interest in finance, investment, accounting and economics
Knowledge and Skills
• Object-oriented programming (Java, C++, C#)
• Databases (SQL data modeling)
• Scripting language such as PowerShell or Python
• Operating systems and production operations
Competencies
• Able to work in small, multi-office teams where initiative and judgment are key
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (business and technical users)
• Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability for issue resolution
• Track record of working well (contributing, communicating, planning) in a highly collegial team environment
• Strong ethics
• Demonstrated ability to identify pragmatic solutions to urgent technical issues, as well as longer term improvements in line with architectural best practices
