Our Commercial Technical Underwriting (CTU) team is growing, and we have an exciting opportunity for a job that is new to Aviva. The Wordings Technician will be integral to supporting Aviva’s ambitions for profitable growth and technical excellence.

CTU is comprised of technical specialists that cover all elements of Commercial Lines insurance underwriting. This job focusses on ensuring our wordings are fit for purpose and in alignment with underwriting plans. Collaborating with the Wordings Assistants and Senior Underwriters within the team, you will manage technical reviews of the Aviva product set as well as providing analysis of broker wordings and view on acceptability of such.

We are looking for a team collaborator with a strong understanding of policy wordings in the commercial world. It's a great role for someone to demonstrate their keen eye for detail and ability to interpret policy coverage and understand the broader consequences of wordings nuances.

Duties & Responsibilities

· 
Own the end to end analysis and review of the Aviva product suite and broker wording requests.

· 
Drive consistency in our wordings approach to ensure all wordings are accurately drafted, clear and align to our underwriting strategy.

· 
Work closely with Senior Underwriters and senior wordings specialists to align wordings with underwriting intent. Provide wordings solutions for complex risks to support front-line Underwriters.

· 
Engage with our legal department to ensure wordings stand up to legal scrutiny.

· 
Identify and drive improvements to our wordings suite. Apply market and legal developments and findings to ensure alignment with reinsurance protection. Coordinate the implementation of any changes.

· 
Identify any variations from Aviva standard wording and document the rationale for any agreements.

Skills & Experience required

· 
FCII/ACII Chartered Insurer qualification is preferable

· 
Proven knowledge of commercial insurance products developed through work experience. Understanding of the impact and requirements of relevant regulatory bodies and legislation on insurance contracts.

· 
Wordings drafting appreciation or experience. Willing to develop technical wordings capability across other lines of business and at a strategic level.

· 
Experience of working in a project-based environment and comfortable taking on a project management role. Ability to influence areas outside immediate control.

· 
Knowledge of reinsurance and its applications.

· 
Ability to think and act long term both strategically and operationally.

· 
Strong communication skills - confident in conveying information with accuracy and brevity.

· 
Proficient IT user, especially Microsoft Office.
