Currently, Defined Benefit Solutions (DBS) plays a key role in providing pension schemes with solutions to meet the needs of pension scheme sponsors, trustees and members. Our outstanding Reinsurance team within Aviva is vital in achieving this ambition by working with reinsurance companies and pension schemes to design capital efficient solutions. Our Operations team has sole responsibility for the ongoing administration of all in-force reinsurance arrangements within DBS.

Aviva has introduced “smart-working”, and the person in this role can be based anywhere in the UK, as long as they are comfortable regularly travelling to our Aviva offices, and to the Norwich office once a quarter for project meetings.

The role’s duties & responsibilities:

Detailed analysis of insured data extracts to determine any data changes that have occurred over the year

Producing accurate annual data cleanse materials, to be provided to the reinsurer

Producing/checking accurate monthly account and collateral materials for a portfolio of reinsurance arrangements

Ensuring all materials produced are appropriate to share with Reinsurers and Trustees

Producing and maintaining detailed and accurate process documentation

Actively participating in team training sessions within the Reinsurance Operations team and other teams in Aviva (which may involve occasional travel to the London and York offices)

Skills & experiences required

Ideally, you’ll have experience in Reinsurance or direct involvement in pension transactions, coupled with knowledge of defined benefit pension specifications. We’re open to anyone with the following skills and experience:

Track record of working in a structured and organised way, managing multiple deadlines to ensure that all tasks are completed on time

Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel packages, with robust VBA experience

Background of academic numerical skills and a good attention to detail

Experienced communication with the ability to build key relationships with both internal and external partners

Innovative and pragmatic attitude to highlight any ideas for operational improvements as they arise

Ability to share knowledge with other team’s members and other parts of Aviva as necessary

A salary of circa £24,000 depending on skills, experience and qualifications
