Location: Cherrywood, Dublin 18 with hybrid working

Aviva Ireland are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Legal Counsel in our general insurance legal team to support the continued growth and success of our general insurance business.

About this role:

You can expect to be involved in a varied and fast-moving range of work supporting execution of the business’ strategy through providing legal advice and assistance to various business functions in relation to all areas of law, including;

· 
drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, agreements and other corporate legal documents;

· 
conducting extensive legal research and evaluating risk factors regarding business decisions and operations, recommending actions to mitigate legal risks;

· 
supporting the delivery of good customer outcomes;

· 
providing legal support to company-wide and intra-group projects and propositions;

· 
providing commercially-focused legal advice and guidance on a wide variety of technical and legal matters;

· 
working alone and collaboratively with other members of the legal team and wider legal function; and

· 
collaborating and managing relationships with business functions and keeping stakeholders and senior management informed of developments to ongoing matters;

· 
participating in training and other initiatives;

· 
manage legal issues as they arise, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies and standards.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

· 
The ideal candidate will be a qualified, junior lawyer (solicitor or barrister) with an excellent academic record, eligible to practise in Ireland seeking to develop their legal and commercial expertise in the insurance industry.

· 
Confidence and capability to actively engage with a varied and fast-moving workload.

· 
Previous experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements is essential.

· 
Experience of insurance or other regulated financial services would be beneficial.

· 
Excellent oral and written communication and problem-solving skills.

· 
A strong commercial and strategic mindset, with a drive and aptitude to pick-up new skills, learn and develop.

· 
Ability to manage projects, negotiations and relationships with internal stakeholders, third parties and external advisers
