Financial Reporting and Control Accountant

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a key role within the Financial Reporting & Control team reporting to the Financial Reporting & Control lead for the Ireland General Insurance (GI) business. The GI Ireland finance team are a small team and the successful candidate will gain invaluable exposure across all aspect of the finance function.

This role will work closely with wider Aviva Group and offers excellent opportunities to interact with senior members of the team. The ideal candidate must be a team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop their knowledge. Whilst previous finance experience is an advantage, what is more important is the right attitude. This position will suit someone who is looking to pass ACCA, energetic, self-motivated, shows good initiative and works well as part of a team.

This successfully applicate will be supported through their chosen exams and will get the opportunity to work across reporting / risk & control / planning / business performance and strategy.

Aviva uses “smart-working”, and you can be based anywhere commutable to our offices in Galway or Dublin.

Responsibilities:

· 
Assistance in preparation of Monthly Reporting

· 
Balance Sheet and Profit & loss statement Analysis

· 
Review Risk and Controls and document any testing

· 
Enhance processes and procedures on an ongoing basis to ensure a strong control environment.

· 
Reporting to management on daily/monthly requirements and responding to queries in a timely manner

· 
Taking responsibility and ownership of tasks

· 
Supporting other departments across the company

· 
Assist in audit preparation

· 
Ad-hoc tasks

Skills:

· 
Relevant 3rd level qualification in business/accountancy

· 
Currently studying or planning to study for a Professional accountancy qualification: ACCA , CIMA, ACA (full financial support for relevant studies will be provided in accordance with our education policy)

· 
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Windows

· 
Excellent verbal & written communication capabilities

· 
Numeric skills -a strong aptitude for reviewing, assessing, and coherently presenting financial information

· 
Ability to work under pressure within a team environment

· 
Ability to meet deadlines and targets

· 
Self-motivated individual with drive, enthusiasm, and commitment

· 
Excellent organisational, analytical and time management skills

· 
'Can-do, will do' attitude
