Within Aviva Digital we approach software delivery with an Agile mind-set, focused on delivering small, value driven enhancements often. We achieve that with our scrum teams that include developers, testers, BAs and Solution Designers to create brand new experiences, small changes to existing products as well as investing in maintaining our existing products to improve code quality against our core development principles.

We are looking for a Test Engineer to join the eSecurity (IAM) team within our Digital organisation, working alongside our scrum teams to test and maintain the authentication environment that will underpin both ours and our partners’ digital apps. You’ll sustain our culture of continuous improvement both from a process and technical perspective, ensuring that:

You’ll be responsible for:

· Deliver high quality testing through modern engineering techniques such as Test Driven Development/Behaviour Driven Development, Automation, Service Virtualisation
· Support the definition of the future platform operating model and provide input into the Test resources, processes and standards required
· Responsible for highlighting blockers impacting scrum team functional and non-functional testing and either owning resolution or requesting they are mitigated/escalated as appropriate
· Responsible for ensuring relevant Project Stakeholder/Test Manager/Platform Quality Manager is kept informed of your workload and that your coaching and mentoring needs are discussed with your Line Manager or PQM
· Where agreed and appropriate, assist TM/PQM in managing workloads of other Quality Engineers
· Engage with project teams to ensure that Acceptance Criteria for incoming stories meet all quality requirements – e.g. logging, error messages, unhappy path testing as well as functional testing
· Responsible for the quality of all testing for stories assigned to you within your scrum team
· Where agreed and appropriate, responsible for monitoring the quality of testing provided by other QE within the scrum team
· Responsibility for testing quality shared by TM/PQMs & Software Engineers within scrum team
· Responsible for ensuring compliance with and (where appropriate) suggesting improvements to platform quality standards/processes
· Provide input into Assurance signoff of new platform deliveries into Runway/Staging environments
· Maintain awareness of and compliance with relevant Release Management/Assurance processes and standards to ensure the PST can continue to deliver into production
· Work with other quality-focussed roles within the platform (PQM, Performance Engineer, Operational Acceptance etc) and help to identify boundaries of roles to avoid duplication or gaps in coverage
· Assist with test resourcing at scrum team level
· Maintain awareness of your demand profile within scrum team
· Provide input into plans for future test resource requirements
· Develop a t-shaped skillset in order to support the future platform operating model
· Additional goals/responsibilities to improve skills/performance to be agreed between individuals and their line manager
· Should take into account the development aims of the individual in question
· Goals could focus on gaining or improving on skills around Software Engineering, NFT, Leadership or other areas as agreed with line manager and PQM
· Collaborate with appropriate Lead Quality Engineer to share/define best practice and work to provide a broad coverage of key testing/quality knowledge within your Product
· Work with the PQM to help define and deliver the quality agenda
· Individual goals or actions to be agreed with Line Manager/PQM and documented separately
