Job description

Data Designer – Salary Circa £40,000.

Aviva are now recruiting for a Platform Designer to support a variety of exciting IT development projects.  

Our Data and Analytics Platform (DAP) Design team manage, prepare, and assure a wide selection of data assets to support a diverse group of business areas within our GI, Healthcare and group businesses. Key internal stakeholders include the finance, actuarial, and regulatory reporting teams, alongside various MI, Business Intelligence and Data Science communities within Aviva. 

This successful candidate will work with change and business teams to identify requirements and define solutions to support a range of development and transformation projects, balancing the needs of business projects with the need to continually modernize our complex IT estate.   As a member of the Design Team, you will provide support and design guidance across multiple platform teams, collaborating with business users, solution developers, solution architects, and fellow Designers.  Our Design Team is multi-disciplined and multi-faceted.   

We are constantly modernising our complex data estate. Cloud and Data Lake are our strategic targets, whilst supporting business self-service were possible.  We welcome those with these specific skills – or with a healthy appetite to learn and develop these skills with us. 

A bit about the job:

· 
Be involved in shaping/pre-inception work, assessing the initial impact of new initiatives/projects across the estate.

· 
Interpreting business requirements and collaborate with business users, solution developers and solution architects to define solution designs.

· 
Proposing, evaluating, and presenting design options (Key Design Decisions) to ensure the long-term strategic goals are met as well as short term project needs

· 
Working with our third-party developers (on and offshore) to ensure correct project solutions are applied.

· 
Act as a recognised subject matter expert and key contact within the context of the role.

Aviva uses “smart-working”, and the person in this role will be based at our Norwich office.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

· 
Experience in cloud technologies (esp. Amazon Web Services).

· 
Familiarity with ETL concepts and coding languages (python / Sql, etc.)

· 
Good analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.

· 
Very strong communication skills, both oral and written and ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.

· 
Excellent design skills and experience of agile delivery methods.

Salary Circa £40,000 (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications)
