Data Architect

You must have valid work rights for Ireland for this position (Irish/UK/Eu passport, or Irish work visa)

Fluent English is essential to be considered for this position, given the interaction with senior leadership teams.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Data Architect to join Aviva Ireland’s architecture team! The successful candidate will act as an advocate for data, evangelising its possibilities to senior business and IT stakeholders, and formulating a strategy that unlocks its potential as a valuable enterprise asset.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· 
The Data Architect will share that strategy, along with roadmaps, standards and principles, during collaborations with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, MI specialists and other colleagues & peers for whom data is crucial

· 
The Data Architect will help business and IT stakeholders build pragmatic cases for making optimal use of data, within the constraints of specific deliverables and objectives

· 
The Data Architect will generate awareness of, and support for, exploring innovative data-driven possibilities of ‘Fintech’ e.g., Machine Learning

Skills & Experience required:

· 
Experience of working in a relevant data discipline

· 
Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to influence peers & stakeholders

· 
Deep expertise in designing data solutions, inclusive of data modelling and ETL patterns

· 
Deep expertise in warehousing, ODS and data mart patterns

· 
Some experience with, or at least a deep understanding of, the data lake paradigm

· 
Experience in marshalling data governance principles and policies

· 
Hands-on expertise with a variety of storage technologies (ideally SQL and NoSQL)

· 
An ability to think strategically or tactically, depending on the constraints
