Job description

Aviva Canada Inc. has an excellent opportunity in our commercial insurance business unit. Our Commercial Enablement team focuses on process and technology projects that directly support the underwriting business. This current opportunity for a Commercial Insurance Business Analyst will support the monthly release of both business and technology focused initiatives.  You will work with stakeholders across Commercial Insurance and be responsible for the analysis and evaluation of business problems, development of recommendations, and implementation of solutions that meet the business needs. 

What you will do

·  Lead and/or participate in multiple projects – manage scope, identify priorities, ensure efficient and on time delivery of milestones.
·  Facilitate requirement elicitation sessions with business and technical stakeholders to understand the business context of the desired future state.
·  Assess business needs, identify feasible alternatives and provide recommendations. 
·  Prepare high level and detailed requirement documents for technical projects, identifying both functional and non-functional requirements.
·  Elicit, validate and document current and future state processes with subject matter experts.  Design high level workflows and use cases.
·  Be the primary contact amongst all Initiative stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of change – business, developers, testers, change management, learning & development.
·  Ensure successful adoption of changes by the business stakeholders, engaging Learning & Development team where required and following up with stakeholders after change has been adopted/deployed.
·  Define project timelines, identifying milestones and phases of delivery.
·  Monitor project progress by tracking deliveries, resolving issues and publishing progress reports.

What we are looking for

·  3 plus years’ experience as a Business Analyst
·  Commercial Insurance experience or knowledge is strongly preferred
·  Experience with Aviva systems is an asset
·  Excellent written and verbal communication
·  Ability to clearly communicate with business and technical stakeholders
·  Demonstrated experience in creating Business Cases, Business Requirements Document, other Business requirements artefacts and testing documentation
·  Possesses analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
·  Excellent problem solving, analysis, attention to detail, and decision-making capabilities
·  Demonstrated experience in negotiating with business stakeholders on functional design issues and detailed solution design sessions, negotiating on issues for production
·  Experience with Agile delivery methods
·  Experience with Visio, Powerpoint, Excel and Word
·  College or University Degree or equivalent practical experience
