Job description

This role sits within our Actuarial Function and focuses on claim reserving and business support. Aviva Plc and its subsidiaries operate within a closely monitored capital position.  Making sure the reserve held are appropriate and changes in claims trends are understood is a key consideration for successfully managing the business. 

Key responsibilities involve:

· 
Producing regulatory required quarterly claims reserves and forward looking claims projections

· 
Producing regular communication and reports on the reserves/projections adhering to industry, professional and Group best practice

· 
Providing actuarial support to the Claims function

· 
Analysing and interpret Claims trends to support the Claims team

· 
Liaison with the Claims team to ensure common understanding of claims trends and assumptions used

· 
Providing actuarial support to Pricing, Underwriting and Finance functions

· 
Performing research and development consultancy for the benefit of the business

· 
Providing actuarial input into business projects as required

Skills & experience we would like to see:

· 
Ideally a part or newly qualified actuary

· 
Effective communication skills

· 
Broad understanding of how GI insurance companies work

· 
Highly numerate and analytical with a developed capability to interpret data and establish alternatives and solutions to complex problems

· 
Understand the needs of our end customers
