(Sr.) Actuarial Analyst - Corporate Actuarial

This role will start off as work from home, gradually you will be required to work in our Markham Office.

Job Summary  

As part of Aviva's dynamic Corporate Actuarial team, you will work within a dynamic team environment to deliver on key areas of responsibilities including: 1) accurate valuation of policy liabilities, 2) valuable and timely actuarial insights that support business decisions and financial reporting, 3) creation and implementation of actuarial models.

In this position, you will have an opportunity to be creative and challenge the status-quo; you will play a critical role in building effective solutions to meet actuarial deliverables under IFRS 17 & evaluate existing processes related to actuarial work-flow post production and propose and implement change.

There is also an opportunity to assist our business partners in understanding the reserve impact on their respective portfolios and quarterly forecasts. It is an opportunity to apply your strong data management and actuarial projection techniques, while developing your knowledge of property and casualty accounting and regulation.  You will analyze and prepare reports on the establishment of adequate claims reserves, Financial Condition Testing and Appointed Actuary’s report. 

Job Responsibilities  

· 
Analyzes the adequacy of the company's claim reserve levels by application of standard actuarial techniques. 

· 
Maintains programs that apply appropriate actuarial techniques to relevant data. 

· 
Maintains monitoring reports for analyzing claims experience. 

· 
Prepares and reconciles quarterly data used in quarterly reserve reviews. 

· 
Prepares the supporting documents required for the quarterly Reserve Committee and annual Appointed Actuary reports. 

· 
Prepares and maintains the reports for both internal and external reporting, including SII and Group reporting.

Qualifications  

· 
Degree in actuarial science, mathematics or related field. 

· 
Minimum of 3 years of actuarial experience (including co-op experience), Reserving experience is a plus.

· 
Actively pursuing actuarial exams.

· 
Strong analytical and problem solving skills. 

· 
Strong team player who is also able to work independently.

· 
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other departments.

· 
Strong analytic skills with the ability to work through the technical implementation details while appreciating the big picture.

· 
Strong technical knowledge with MS Excel and VBA.

· 
Experience with SAS, SQL and Python is an asset.
