Job Description

This position is available in Darlington, within Rail Operations Support Team.

The site has ample parking and is easily accessible from the motorway. Public transport is reasonable with a regular bus service. There may be a limited requirement to travel, for example, to attend customer meetings and workshops.

This is a full time role working standard office hours with an element of flexibility on start and end times . After a suitable training period, the role-holder will be expected to provide on-call cover for a given application as part of a rota with other team members. An on-call allowance is payable for this work.

As part of their responsibilities Functional Support Analyst will:

· Provide functional support to external and internal customers within Rail Operations.
· Investigate and resolve incidents against a specified subset of Rail Ops applications.
· Update & close calls on the SDM system
· Supporting customers remotely, providing functional advice and helping to diagnose system faults.
· Providing simple Technical solutions
· Communicating progress to customers
· Application testing in conjunction with the test factory
· Conducting ad-hoc site visits to customers when required
· Produce accurate functional specifications for use by Technical Support team and offshore colleagues
· Provide ad hoc training to customers’ staff on products

· Comprehensive knowledge of the Rail ops Product Suite and highly developed functional support skills
· Able to create accurate & complete functional specifications from problem records and discussions with customers
· Organised and methodical approach to work, with the ability to progress issues to resolution,
· Demonstrate adherence to following processes/plans
· Creation, review & update of documentation
· Able to establish a good rapport with a range of business and technical colleagues.
· Able to work independently or as part of a team, depending on the nature of the task in hand
