Job Description

The Cyber Security Officer will be part of a dynamic, innovative team that delivers intelligence led cyber security to defend the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its customers. You will be working with both Government and private sector partners to build and mature this capability, detect malicious behaviour, and respond to cyber threats.

As a Cyber Security Officer you will be at the core of security services within the organisation. Proactively using a blend of threat information and intelligence from multiple internal and open source feeds, you will produce actionable intelligence outputs that accurately explain the threat landscape and the associated risks posed. You will also be required to take the lead on security incident response, investigations and consult on threat advisories and vulnerabilities that may affect customer systems.

Main duties

Experience is not required in all of the following areas. However, it is likely that successful candidates will have experience in at least 2 or more of the areas below:

· Lead and co-ordinate Security Incident Handling/Response incidents in accordance with other stakeholders as required
· Manage Security Investigations maintaining confidentiality and alignment to regulation.
· Perform Forensic Analysis utilising both industry leading and open source tooling.
· Threat Intelligence & Analysis allowing for pro-active detection and protection of emerging threats.
· Network Analysis
· Malware Analysis / Reverse Engineering
· Vulnerability Assessment & Management
· Threat Research utilising OSINT / HUMINT / CYBINT to identify emerging threats and advise internally/externally
· Experience using big data analysis platforms/SIEM and the development of advanced queries used for analysis/investigation
· Behavioural Analysis technology and or processes
· Knowledge of varying threat actor groups and their characteristics
· Experience of developing in-depth technical investigations
· Perform research, analysis, and testing of network, systems, and industrial controls to mitigate risk to the infrastructure and our customers.
· Apply metrics of operation of security controls, as well as apparent attacks, breaches, and other pertinent data.
· Assist in the examination and/or testing of new methodologies or tools that could be adopted to enhance security of platforms, infrastructure, or access to data.
· The role will involve keeping abreast of evolving cyber threats and identifying new and sophisticated methods of detection across our customer's infrastructure.
· Document procedures in accordance to internal policies.
· Perform audits for network/system security and risk management.
· Identify mitigating countermeasures to identified threats and vulnerabilities.
· Creation of operational reporting in accordance with business and regulatory needs
· Produce professional customer Security Reports inline with service areas delivered.
· The role holder will be responsible for maintaining the documentation library and knowledge management systems for the security operations centre

· This role requires the individual to be eligible for UK Security clearance at SC CLEARED level.
· Experience in Information/Cyber Security.
· Can demonstrate good technical abilities.
· Good understanding across multiple technical practices/technologies
· Fluent English language Oral and Written skills
· Able to communicate with stakeholders on a day to day basis via telephone, email and face to face.
· Able to prepare and deliver presentations to small groups.
· The ability to demonstrate a logical approach to problem identification and resolution
· The ability to work independently using their own initiative once an objective has been agreed
· The ability to think creatively and develop innovative ideas that will enhance or improve delivery quality
· Ability to communicate with confidence at all levels in an organisation.

Desirable Criteria

· Experience of working in a Cyber Security Operations Centre or CSIRT team.
· One or a number of following certifications essential: CISSP, CEH, CCFP, CRISC or SANS/GIAC certifications such as GCIH, GCIA, GREM, GCFA, CFCE.
· Experience in malware reverse engineering.
· Experience in programming/scripting.
· Relevant academic experience and interest in the area of computer networks and cyber security.
