The opportunity

 

Thanks to another well-earned promotion, we’re now seeking a new security guru to join our fast-growing cybersecurity team. As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer , you’ll play a leading role in helping us continue to deliver world-class end-to-end security for our clients, while growing our expertise across a booming cybersecurity landscape. Instinctively security minded with strong leadership and project management skills, you’ll be the go-to person for projects ranging from small and niche, to substantial and strategic.

 

Location: Birmingham (4 days a week).

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

 

·  Providing technical leadership in the detailed design, deployment and exploitation of specified IT security services and tools
·  Ensuring design documentation and procedures are kept up-to-date and adhered to (personally and for junior team members)
·  Engaging in and supporting the transition of project deliverables into operational service
·  Delivering information security portfolio deployments for existing clients, onboarding new clients to BDS’s services and assisting with ongoing portfolio development
·  Ensuring the timely transition of services to operational state so as to maximise commercial recovery, and provide technical input to bids and costings when required

Skills we can’t do without:

 

·  Experience supporting or deploying security technology or services
·  Strong knowledge (SME) in IDS/IPS
·  Ability to take a hands-on approach and lead technical deployments
·  Confident ability to write and review designs, reports, procedures and standards
·  Recognised security qualifications, i.e. CISSP, CISM, CISA, ITIL
·  Eligibility for UK security clearance, SC

 

Skills we’d like:

 

·  Awareness of UK government protective marking standards, and of industry standards – PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, GPG 13
·  Solid network engineering and server architecture awareness, including common exploits and vulnerabilities
·  Hands-on experience in network/server and security operational roles, information security management and product pre-sales
