Job Description

Backup & Recovery Engineer General Summary

· The Backup & RecoveryAdministratior is responsible for the operation of multiple instances of Avamar/Netbackup/Veeam software installations. The successful candidate is responsible for job scheduling, managing and troubleshooting customer backups leveraged accross various technologies and architectures include HP, Data Domain, Tape Libraries etc.
· The backup and recovery team members support the data protection of the customer environment. The ideal candidate will be someone who is highly motivated with good interpersonal skills, excellent technical skills and pays attention to details. The candidate is the pre-requisite work experience and is accountable for the quality for the work product. Innovation and troubleshooting skills are required to diagnose and solve business challenges.
· Provide operational support of backup infrastructure, start/stop jobs, trend backup job information.
· Generate, Review and analyze daily, weekly and monthly backup reports.
· Review backup capacity and utilization trending. Provide system expansion recommendations to support data growth.
· Create and maintain operational documentation as required for all aspects of the Atos data protection service.
· Identify areas to improve operational effectiveness and work with project teams deploy/upgrade backup solutions.
· Work with clients, engineering and architecture teams on backup and recovery infrastructure.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Requires at least 3+years experience in data protection services (aka backup and recovery) with technical knowledge in the following:

· Netbackup s/w admnistation experience/certification beneficial.
· Veeam s/w backup experience/certification a plus.
· Avamar/Data Domain experience preferred
· Knowledge of tape, disk technologies and backup methodologies.
· Knowledge of various operating systems (windows, Unix).
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. VISIO experience a plus.
· Should have knowledge of an ITSM tool such as ServiceNow, Remedy.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with business users in a professional manner.
