Roles are available in Beeston, with occasional requirement to travel.

The Customer Information Systems (CIS) team works within the Mobility and eTransactions Services division of Worldline. The team is based in Worldline’s offices in Beeston, Nottingham. The Customer Information Systems team develops, implements and supports applications that provide current train running information to passenger displays and automated public address at railway stations and other public locations and also to web sites and mobile devices. The CIS team’s scope of work includes consultancy, design and development of software enhancements, installation of systems at site, training, support of live systems, project management of major CIS installation projects.

Worldline is the foremost provider of Customer Information Systems in the UK. Our intention is to maintain this position through providing first class delivery of projects, application support and product enhancements to our customers. A cohesive and committed development and project delivery team, with strong technical expertise, commitment to quality and process improvement and technical strategy vision is required to achieve this. CIS work is varied and members of the CIS team need to be flexible in the work they undertake.

Primarily a software development role, the application developer will undertake the design, development, review and testing of software enhancements for both customer funded and internally funded projects. They will also be required to undertake 2nd and 3rd line software support and to provide implementation support, as necessary and will get involved in improving processes and tools used in the development process. There may also be opportunities to get involved in hardware set up and testing, operator training and site visits to install systems or diagnose faults.

The successful candidate must be a good team player with excellent communication skills to work successfully within the development team and alongside the CIS support team and technical architects. They will have proven software development and support skills and will be proficient at problem solving, able to resolve issues by themselves whilst also knowing when it is time to seek assistance from others.

The current application is developed in Micro Focus Cobol and VB6 and runs on LINUX servers, with the operator control GUI running on Windows PCs. The CIS team also develop other applications and products written in C++ and C# and are in the process of upgrading the GUI front-end application to a Web based UI, written in PHP/Laravel, Javascript and HTML5 and so knowledge of any of these languages would also be very desirable.

The role includes the following:

· Application development coding skills, using C++, C#, PHP/Laravel, HTML5, Javascript
· Application development / software coding skills, Microfocus Cobol and VB6
· Testing skills: unit testing, system testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing • Functional and technical design of new solutions and enhancements
· Estimating
· Problem solving and fault resolution
· PA scripting, recording and editing of wav files • Working with colleagues / project team to deliver complete scope of small to large projects, including R & D projects
· Working with other teams in Worldline to deliver cross-functional enhancements
· Reviews of colleagues’ work (e.g. designs, code reviews, test plans)
· Assistance to support team through inclusion in second and third line support and on-call rotas
· Project hardware set up, configuration, testing (as required)
