About the Role

You will join the Architecture and Technology Group. We are a highly motivated team developing technologies for ARM’s future roadmap. We innovate around processor instruction set architecture, microarchitecture and programming models. In addition to conventional CPU architectures we work in areas including throughput-compute, vector engines, many-core, configurable processors and hardware accelerators. We are looking for experienced micro-architects and RTL designers to staff an Advanced Product Development team in Austin looking at prototyping the implementation of new architecture features in high performance ARM cores.

What will I be accountable for?


·  Investigations of tradeoffs for implementing new proposed Architectures across different micro-architectures
·  Interacting with Research, Architecture, and Implementation team
·  Promoting and demonstrating the ARM core beliefs and behaviours

Job Requirements

What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?


·  Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering
·  Understanding of general purpose CPU microarchitecture, including knowledge of areas such as processor pipelines, caches, memory hierarchy, and multi-processor systems.
·  Knowledge and or Experience in RTL hardware development using Verilog, ideally block design in a CPU design project or similar high performance project
·  Understanding of CPU instruction set architecture and assembly language
·  Familiarity with ARM architecture and micro-architecture for current ARM CPU cores is helpful but not required.
·  Software development skills and/ or experience is helpful (C/C++, Python/Perl, Shell scripting)
·  Experience modelling microprocessors using higher-level languages, like C/C++, is helpful but not required
·  Working knowledge of Linux / Unix, is helpful but not requiredb
·  Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a team
