Technical Program Manager (TPM) – Amazon Search Operations

The Amazon Search team creates powerful, customer-focused search and shopping technologies. Whenever a customer visits an Amazon site worldwide and types in a query or browses through product categories, the Amazon Search service goes to work. We design, develop, and operate high performance, fault-tolerant distributed search systems used by millions of Amazon customers every day.

Our Search Operations team manages one of the Internet's largest product search infrastructures, made up of thousands of servers, serving millions of customers performing hundreds of millions of queries - all delivered in milliseconds. Members of this team strive to find innovative ways to maximize resilience and availability of this mission critical service.

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) within Amazon Search, you will be responsible for driving cross org and high visibility programs such as peak readiness planning and operational excellence initiatives. You will partner closely with our worldwide engineering leaders on challenging initiatives – it is important you have a strong technical background and are motivated to learn and understand Search technology.

Responsibilities:

· Drive, manage and continuously improve peak event (Prime Day, Black Friday, CyberMonday, etc.) planning across Search to ensure operational readiness.
· Manage our Operational Excellence and Reliability program to reduce operational burden for engineering teams across Search. Invent and launch new programs where opportunity arises.
· Partner with Amazon reliability teams to ensure Search is applying best operational practices and tooling within the organization.
· Drive and report on key goals and initiatives for the worldwide operations teams.
· Anticipate hurdles and drive to resolution while balancing business needs and technical constraints.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

· At least 3 years of experience managing complex projects with a deep technical understanding.
· Experience managing large projects and programs within the internet and services space.
· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or at least 5 years equivalent work experience.
