DESCRIPTION

We are looking for outstanding candidates to join our team for 6-11 month System Development Engineer internships. Internships are flexible in length to fit in with your university's placement scheme.

Job Responsibilities:
As an Amazon intern, you will be interacting with your peers and Amazon's global team of full-time professionals as part of our world-beating Software and Systems Development teams. You'll manage your own set of deliverables, working at the forefront of Amazon's Cloud and Retail businesses in a variety of functional areas (requirements gathering, design, programming, testing, documentation, etc.). You will benefit from the opportunity to attend our popular technical architecture meetings, asking lots of questions and learning as you go. You'll have lots of fun and maybe even make history!

Development:
As an intern you will go through induction training before joining your team. You will drive your own learning and development with guidance and coaching from your manager, buddy and colleagues around you.

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Currently working towards a BSc/MSc degree in Computer Science or related field
· Good object-orientated design knowledge
· Cmopetent in at least one functional scripting language (e.g. Perl or Shell)
· Familiarity with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, relational databases and optimisation
· Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
· Adept at handling ambiguous or vaguely defined challenges through abstract thinking
· Must be a good communicator and be customer focused.
· Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment
