Job description

DESCRIPTION

Amazon is focused on protecting the health and safety of our employees while continuing to serve people who need our services more than ever. Regular testing on a global scale across all industries would both help keep people safe and help get the economy back up and running. But, for this to work, we as a society would need vastly more testing capacity than is currently available. Unfortunately, today we live in a world of scarcity where COVID-19 testing is heavily rationed. Until we have an effective vaccine available in billions of doses, high-volume testing capacity would be of great help, but getting that done will take collective action by NGOs, companies, and governments.

Job Description
To help solve this problem, Amazon has begun the work of building incremental testing capacity. We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to review and assess supplier manufacturing procedures, by auditing supplier sites as part of the supplier selection process, as well as to ensure supplier quality meets the agreed-upon requirements with minimum inspection or modification. This role will guarantee all suppliers and the materials provided are in compliance with engineering and R&D specifications. You will coordinate key workflows across global supply chain to drive incoming supplier quality SOPs, develop relationships with our technical and R&D partners, and ensure that all areas of potential defects are audited regularly for quality control.

Primary duties of this role will include:
· Develop and maintain SOPs for supplier audits, and provide plans for poor performing suppliers to mitigate risk to the company.
· Develop incoming material sampling plans based on risk.
· Lead corrective actions as required from supplier 8D’s or non-conformance reports.
· Investigate supplier quality and delivery issues to determine opportunities for improvement.
· Represent Supplier Quality in New Product Development projects.
· Collaborate with the Procurement Department to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and the appropriate corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
· Assist Engineering and R&D Departments in the evaluation and qualification of new suppliers and materials following a defined new product development process.
· Travel to supplier locations to facilitate the resolution of quality problems, as defined by the Global Warehouse Operations team.
· Act as Quality liaison for supply chain to disposition all Non-Conformances related to suppliers.
· Complete trending and analysis of supplier defects, recurring problems, and supplier corrective actions.
· Review and communicate supplier requests for engineering changes or new products.
