The AWS Hardware Engineering team creates server designs for Amazon's innovative web services. Our designs are industry-leading in frugality and operational excellence, and are critical to the success of the AWS business and the more than one million customers who use AWS today. Our Engineers solve challenging technology problems, and build architecturally sound, high-quality components to enable AWS to realize critical business strategies.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an innovative self-starter. You will possess a strong understanding of our technology stack, and be able to analyze it in its current and future context. You will use comprehensive knowledge of hardware and software in your projects to find the best solutions to multi-factor problems. Our Engineers are shaping the way people use computers and designing the future of cloud computing technology – come help us make history!

What you will do: You will design AWS-specific hardware, and software/firmware. You will interact with engineers across the company. You will lead investigations into new technologies for AWS services. You will explore emerging technologies and their impact. You will build strategies for timing and implementation using your experience, analytic skills, and knowledge of the AWS environment.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Graduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
· Experience in the design of hardware, software and firmware.
· An understanding of the public cloud.
· Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture.
· Knowledge of memory architectures.
· Knowledge of emerging trends in heterogeneous computing.
· Knowledge of IO subsystems architecture.
· Knowledge of network architecture.
· Experience with operating systems such as Linux/Unix.
· The ability to effectively communicate in writing.
