As a member of the team, you will spend your time as a software development engineer and a technical leader. You will play a key role in delivering software products and features to the highest quality. You will use a wide range of technologies, devices, services, and systems. We design and build playback experiences for the web, mobile phones, tablets, smart TVs, game consoles, and set top boxes.

We focus on making Amazon Video the best place to watch movies, TV shows, live events, and other video types. Period. We constantly challenge ourselves to create the ultimate customer experience for watching video.

We measure data in Petabytes and streaming in Exabytes. We obsess over big picture problems like "How do we deliver video that's more reliable than the internet it's delivered over?" to low level details like "How do we squeeze maximum picture quality out of every bit delivered?" We strive to be on the forefront of new consumer technologies like UHD TV and High Dynamic Range video. The Amazon Video playback team is looking for smart and motivated software development engineers to help build solutions that change the way customers watch movies, TV shows, and live events. The playback team is responsible for creating a smooth and seamless video experience on the web and various mobile devices as well as living room devices such as the Kindle Fire, 3rd party Android devices, iPad/iPhone, Xbox, Wii/WiiU, and PS3/PS4.

The candidate will join the next-generation player team whose focus is on the development of a cross-platform player that enables rapid innovations in all of our customer's watching environments.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design.
· Highly proficient in at least one of Java, C++, C#, Objective-C.
· Experience with one or more of TypeScript/JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, Python, React
· Evidence of working with algorithms, data-structures, efficiency, concurrency, performance optimization.
· Evidence of working with object-oriented development and design patterns.
· OS fundamentals and systems architecture.
· Cloud computing, large-scale and high-availability distributed architecture.
· Experience working in an Agile environment.
· Strong analytical and excellent problem solving skills.
· Strong written and verbal English communications skills.
