At Amazon Web Services (AWS), Security is our highest priority. We're seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) to support AWS Security Expectations. This role is inherently cross-functional and requires the ability to think big and collaborate with others as you work closely with teams across engineering, operations, finance, compliance and security. We are looking for a critical thinker who thrives on solving challenges in partnership with teams across Amazon and AWS. You are comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and display high levels of bias for action and ownership. You will also have the opportunity to learn about core AWS products and services as you help us build new, better, resilient mechanisms that will raise the bar for security in AWS.
As a Principal TPM with our team, you will influence how AWS Security operates and works with service owners, partners, and customers to determine the most important new programs to initiate and the best way to launch them. You will define and deliver programs that ensure security work is well scoped, vetted for clarity and purpose, well-supported, and effectively communicated to all our service owners. You will raise the bar for engineering excellence by assessing, improving, and automating existing processes, mechanisms, and tools. You will deliver well-crafted outward and upward communication, and influence roadmaps, priorities, and deliverables across multiple teams. You will increase your impact by introducing programs focused on improving the launch of new Security Expectations, service team goals, and other large scale security work.
We seek candidates with a well-rounded technical background, deep and wide program management experience, as well as demonstrated experience leading large, cross-organizational projects with measurable impact. In this role you will be in a creative, collaborative environment where your ability to advocate, persuade, and influence will be important for your programs to succeed. You are not deterred by ambiguity or competing priorities. As a Principal TPM, we'll be looking to you for thought leadership when it comes to developing high-level strategic plans, and we'll also need you to roll up your sleeves, dig in, and get the job done when it's necessary. As a Principal TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation to management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
Your ability to remove ambiguity, manage dependencies, communicate effectively, and dive deep into technical details is essential. You can balance think big with realism, and deliver on ambitious but achievable plans while communicating to executive audiences. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role. You'll also be a role model for TPMs on our team and across Amazon. You'll be asked to participate as a mentor, and interviewer, and we will look to you to make sure we keep raising the bar.

· BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
· Knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques
· 7+ years of experience in identifying security issues and risks, and developing mitigation plans
· 3+ years of experience in network, system or software architecture; design, implementation, support and/or evaluation of security-focused tools and services
· Experience in encryption, access controls, vulnerability testing and/or auditing.
