Are you an experienced technical and business leader of IT security teams? Do you have broad and deep knowledge of cloud computing, identity and access management, encryption technologies, networking, and related IT technologies, especially as they relate to security and compliance? Do you have solid experience understanding and influencing security-related technology decisions made by private and public sector customers? Are you able to analyze and influence product and service teams to ensure that they align with a strategy that ensures optimal security for cloud computing customers?

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world’s leading provider of cloud computing services, seeks an experienced IT security professional to augment the effectiveness of the AWS Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) as part of the AWS Office of the CISO. As a key member of the Office of the CISO, you will engage with both external customers and partners, as well as internal teams, to explain how the AWS cloud provides a secure and compliant platform for their workloads, to influence and push forward customers on their journey to the cloud, and to ensure that security-related customer requirements are front-and-center in service team roadmaps.

The ideal candidate will possess a diverse background in information security management, business, technical sales and/or business development, IT management, IT infrastructure, and/or engineering background, as well as a deep knowledge of cloud computing, industry trends, product development, business and organizational skills, and strong technical know-how. This role requires a passion for customers and their missions, a strong ability to influence and guide, a track record of innovation, a desire to learn and be curious, and a high level of comfort navigating ambiguity while creating clarity as you move forward. You must be able to scale and influence key decision-makers both externally and internally, while also being able to dive deep, with a rich grasp of the details.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· 15+ years of relevant experience, as described above.
· Must have a passion for innovation, be comfortable defining a path and pushing forward in the face of ambiguity, have the ability to scale and influence broadly, and as well as the ability to dive deep into the details.
· Proven ability to influence and guide both customers and internal stakeholders around business and technical strategies in the security area, and to translate from business requirements to technical solutions.
· Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges; strong analytical and excellent communications skills, verbal/presentation skills, writing skills, and attention to detail.
· Must enjoy working in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment, with outstanding interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
· Experience as the Chief Information Security Officer (or equivalent) of a commercial enterprise or a public sector entity (government agency, educational institution, etc.).
· Deep and broad technical knowledge of and experience with IT security, cloud computing, compliance frameworks, identity and access management, service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, networking, modern application architectures, and the like; plus strong understanding of virtualization, storage systems, software-defined networks, Internet Protocol, high availability and high scalability using modern techniques (scale out versus scale up), etc.
· Proven hiring, team building, and management skills, including hiring, developing, and promoting the best, with full management control over organizations of five or more technical and/or business professionals.
· Industry certification in cloud computing, information security and other relevant disciplines, such as AWS Professional-level certifications, CISSP, etc.
· Master’s degree or PhD in relevant business, computer science, and/or engineering disciplines.
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant business, computer science, and/or engineering disciplines.
· 10 + years of relevant business or technical experience, information security management, product management or business development, software engineering, program or project management, and/or operations experience in and around information technologies, with a special emphasis on knowledge and experience related to information security and compliance.
· 7 + years of experience with IT security, cloud computing, compliance frameworks, identity and access management, service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, networking, modern application architectures, and the like.
