DESCRIPTION

Global Talent Management (GTM) is centrally responsible for creating and evolving Amazon's talent programs and processes. Our science team is has a direct and necessary impact on Amazonians across all of our businesses and locations around the world, and we are rapidly growing. We regularly use experiments, trials, and scientific investigation to pitch ideas and drive conversations with Amazon's executives about how to improve existing talent programs to solve organizational problems focused on (but not limited to) talent differentiation, talent movement, employee-role matching, product integration, promotion practices, organization design and succession planning, and diversity and inclusion. Or, we invent brand new programs/processes that address the evolving needs of our diverse employee base. We are looking for a dynamic, resourceful, and organized Principal Research Scientist to develop the right science-based solutions to drive innovation and execute new strategies that support the most critical components of this rapidly scaling operation.

In this role, you will be the Single Threaded Leader, with sole ownership, of key initiatives within GTM. This includes developing the strategic approach for our discovery, delivery, and execution of improved GTM solutions. You will do this through trial and error, experimentation, deep-dive investigations, and close partnership with product and technology owners. You will develop innovative and even frighteningly bold plans and ideas to discover new ways to advance our goals. Successful candidates will have a deep knowledge of applying scientific and statistical knowledge to large scale problem solving, be able to ignite support for their ideas and strategies, communicate their vision, and lead a group of scientists to execute thoughtfully laid roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities:

· Work across different business lines to address business challenges, perform analyses and explain the results to senior leaders
· Strategize and implement quick experimentation to test new ideas
· Execute research project plans, regular communications to key project stakeholders, summary of project findings and formulate action plans
· Navigate a variety of data sources, such as enterprise data, customize surveys, focus groups, and/or external data sources
· Guide the technical approach for the design and implementation of successful models and algorithms in support of teams across Amazon
· Work in expert cross-functional teams delivering on demanding projects.
· Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:
· Advanced degree in Industrial Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or Operations Research
· Ten or more years of applying statistical algorithms and models to solving applied problems in industry
· Foundational skills in conducting experimental research studies and data analysis
· Proficiency in at least one statistical program (R, SAS, SPSS, Python, etc.)
· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
· Proven experience guiding R&D strategy for critical problems
· Proven record of innovation and strategic impact across teams
