We deliver world-class products on aggressive schedules that are used every day, by people you know, in and about their homes and on-the-go.

We are looking for a talented Principal Software Engineer who is passionate about the mobile landscape, cutting-edge technology advancements on mobile and AI systems, and the problem space that impacts billions of devices. You will architect and design overall approach for new & innovative capabilities for Alexa on mobile covering a range of platforms, devices, reference kits and software tools/products. You will work on our hardest problems, building high quality, architecturally sound systems that are aligned with our customers and business needs. As a Principal engineer you should be hands on, producing both detailed technical work and high-level architectural designs, have experience working with UX and product teams to build and invent new solutions and applications that put customers first. You will have an opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of a conversational framework to make Alexa better on mobile.

Principal Engineer will provide technical leadership at Alexa and establish technical standards by driving overall technical architecture, engineering practices, and engineering methodologies. You will own the design and implementation of significant portions of the product development and serve as a leader and mentor for other engineers in their areas of work. You will help set the features, architecture, and best practices of the team, and have significant influence on our overall strategy. A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating a reliable, scalable, and high-performance service and developer platform requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, loves the mobile space, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals.

The ideal candidate will be clearly passionate about new opportunities and technology landscape on mobile and have a demonstrable track record of success delivering new features or products. This person has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast. He or she has strong OO design and implementation experience, strong knowledge of web protocols, an in-depth knowledge of mobile and connectivity technologies, distributed systems architectures, and has led or mentored junior engineers. Experience with web-based applications and/or web services-based applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
· 12+ years of relevant, broad engineering experience, with 7+ years of experience as an architect
· Experience leading the delivery of platforms, system level technologies in Mobile, Consumer Electronics/Embedded devices space.
· 10+ years of experience leading large-scale projects.
· 10+ years of knowledge of emerging platforms, Java, C/C++, Android, iOS, operating system principles, and programming best practices.
· 5+ years of experience with wireless and connectivity technologies such as Bluetooth, Mesh Networking, BLE, RFComm
· Experience/knowledge of SoC, DSP, and semiconductor technologies
