DESCRIPTION

The Global Fulfillment, Transportation and Delivery Solutions Team seeks a customer obsessed and innovative Principal Data Scientist to lead the development of core AI solutions to impact operations productivity, capital efficiency, transportation efficiency, and the speed of delivery. The Principal Scientist will lead the team to develop new capabilities to generate actionable system and network insights through advanced analytics. She/he will guide the team to productize and scale high impact prototype analytical models developed to support R&D programs. She/he will provide technical and analytical leadership for a multi-disciplinary team of Data Scientists, Business Analysts, Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Engineers.

Who you are and what you will do

As a Principal Data Scientist you will take the lead to provide strategic direction on large scale business problems. You understand challenges in multiple business domains, are able to discover new business opportunities and at times you may not even fully understand what the problem is before starting. The problems we address are significantly complex and we expect you to lead excellence in our data science methodologies. You have scientific and industrial maturity to deliver designs and algorithms that set the standard for the organization. You have a distinct ability to identify and implement robust, efficient and scalable solutions that leverage multiple techniques and/or technologies. You will make and quantify cross-organization trade-offs to implement mechanisms to ensure that benefit persists. You will have a significant role in developing others.

This role is located in North Reading, Ma. Expect to travel up to 10%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Advance degree (PhD) in Computer Science, Applied Math or a related field
· Advanced knowledge of big data analytics technologies
· Knowledge of cloud computing and AWS services
· Skills with Java, C++ or other high-level programming language, as well as MATLAB or similar scripting language. Experience with data visualization software such as Tableau or Quicksight.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· A highly talented technical leader with 10+ years of exceptional hands-on experience in building and applying Machine Learning and analytic applications.
· Experience developing and managing strategic AI roadmaps to advance business capabilities.
· Demonstrated thought-leadership with a passion for translating data into action and business insights.
· The candidate must have good communication skills and good management and leadership experience in applying quantitative solutions. Having an ability to explain analytical concepts to a non-technical audience is a must.
· Prototyping skills (e.g., R/Python)
· An advanced degree in a quantitative field, computer science, or related engineering discipline is required.
