DESCRIPTION

Linux is the most popular operating system in the cloud. Various Linux flavors are used by our customers for their most mission critical applications. Linux Partner Solution Architects enable the partner and customer community in the Linux industry. Partnering with other customer facing and service teams, you will work strategically on technical integrations and roadmap.

As the right candidate, you are as comfortable white boarding complex software architectures with a roomful of engineers as you are briefing an executive audience. You will get the opportunity to work with a wide array of AWS product & service teams. You will work closely with a few select partners to dive deeper on their product roadmap. You will also have the opportunity to write blogs, whitepapers & reference architecture, speak at events and file patents for what could potentially be a future AWS product or feature. You will get the opportunity to work directly with senior engineers at both customers, partners, and AWS service teams.

You should be a technical domain expert, experienced with Linux OS both as a philosophy and having implemented its ideas. Experience working directly with customers is required, and prior experience working with partner solutions is a plus.

Previous experience with Linux Operating System, storage, networking and middleware products is desired but not required.

This position can be based in Seattle, Irvine, Dallas, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, San Francisco, Herndon, Houston, Boston or New York.

Up to 30% domestic travel is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
· An advanced degree in computer science, engineering or mathematics is preferred.
· Strong practical Linux, storage and networking systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment
· Experience building a migration pattern
· Prior success in migrating production workloads to the cloud
· Familiarity with Linux operating system and middleware products
· Strong scripting skills in several popular languages, e.g. Python, Bash, Ruby, etc.
· Knowledge of IP networking, firewall and VPN architectures, DNS, and service delivery through load balancing techniques
· Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA and REST).
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.

· 3+ years of customer-facing experience, preferably interfacing with senior technical roles at large companies.
· BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
· Experience with Linux operating system in a distributed environment.
