Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the largest Cloud provider in the world and our security teams solve some of the most challenging and interesting problems to effectively mitigate large-scale threats. Paramount to our success is ensuring that customer data is secure with AWS.

As we expand into more international locations and continuously innovate, we are seeking an experienced and self-motivated technical program manager (TPM) with strong technical skills, proven record of creative approaches to achieving security across the organization in an efficient and effective manner. As a member of the AWS Security Emerging Region Assessments (ERA) Team, the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to strengthen security as AWS expands globally.

The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, the ability to influence people from customers to service teams to executives by creating win-win solutions, and the desire to be an individual contributor in securing Amazon's next-generation cloud. We are looking for an individual that can think like a security engineer, has a deep knowledge of security concepts, understands software development, and can drive initiatives in an agile manner. The candidate must also have a strong understanding of risk-based decision-making as the candidate will be making critical judgment calls on a regular basis. Also, key to this role is the ability to understand the legal and regulatory environment of international locations and drive initiatives to enable security of the expansion within the framework of the country's legal requirements.

As part of the Security team, the successful candidate will be expected to manage drive success on tasks across a diverse customer base and in different stages of a projects life cycle or region build. The candidate will have the opportunity to build and iterate innovative approaches to identifying, assessing, and driving security. The TPM must be comfortable with balancing strategic thinking with tactical, detailed execution while working independently, sorting through ambiguously defined problems, identifying and facing big challenges and adjusting to sudden and frequent change. This role acts as a key liaison with service teams, customers, legal & public policy, region build teams and AWS Security to implement security initiatives. The TPM will also interface with data center operations and service teams as necessary to understand the changing technical environment and clearly communicate security requirements. The TPM should have experience in technical environments and program/project management experience to drive and influence technical solutions across the organization in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Deep dive on the operating environment in countries to which we expand, understanding the risk that country attributes, laws, and regulation may pose to our business;
· Identify, assess, manage, remediate, and track activities within the team;
· Develop and/or mature innovative approaches that effectively manage risks while meeting the needs of internal customers and minimizing business impact;
· Develop network of SMEs across Amazon in order to deliver solutions internally and for our customers;
· Develop a working knowledge of the operational processes and controls in place that support the Security team;
· Lead document writing as necessary to communicate program initiatives or escalations;
· Drive security projects through coordination with AWS teams.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or related discipline, or 7+ years' equivalent technology experience
· Minimum of 5 years operating within cloud environments
· Minimum of 3 years of experience operating in/responding to international regulated environments
· Minimum of 3 years of industry experience with a proven track record of delivery following Project Management principles
