The global accounting organization supports our financial reporting, internal control, intercompany, and transfer pricing activities and also supports new business launches globally for Amazon in the consumer products, digital initiatives, merchant, operations, logistics, payments, and cloud computing lines of business.

Amazon has increased its presence in India significantly, with new businesses launching both organically and through acquisitions and investments. As the business moves extremely quickly, the finance organization requires individuals who possess bias for action and the ability to manage the seamless integration of complex entities and structures.

This position will be responsible for supporting accounting-related pre- and post-close activities of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and minority equity investments for our financial reporting and tax compliance purposes in the India market. This position will be responsible for representing accounting throughout the M&A and investment process, working with cross-department business leaders and functional accounting teams to ensure a seamless integration into the financial statements. An ideal candidate must be able to understand system solutions and how to navigate complex integrations.

Job responsibilities will include but not limited to:
· Working closely with M&A Accounting team based in Seattle on transactions impacting India
· Conducting M&A and investment due diligence for proposed transactions; partners with Corporate Development on communication of key accounting issues identified, also working with external firms when deals require outside diligence.
· Proactively identifying, researching, consulting, and drafting technical memorandum on significant accounting issues in transactions.
· Participate in and be in certain cases drive management and execution of valuation exercises, including partnering with 3rd party valuation firm on preparation of various fair value reports (e.g. for purchase accounting and goodwill and long lived assets impairment)
· M&A purchase and equity investment accounting and certain other implementation/integration activities
· Manage risks across disparate business functions, driving mitigation and resolution
· Build relationships across multiple teams within Amazon to foster a collaborative and productive working relationship.
· Managing and attracting talent into Amazon

We are currently looking for manager level candidates who have held similar positions in larger public companies or who have held a manager level position with a Big 4 public accounting firm. Successful candidates for this position will have the equivalent of 7+ years of professional experience with financial reporting related responsibilities. Demonstrated experience in leading teams to accomplish unusually complex challenges will be expected as this is an ongoing requirement for this position.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree in accounting, finance or related field
· 7+ years of relevant experience
· 2+ years of management leadership experience
· Experience with M&A and investment activities, integration of new entities and business lines, with a deep understanding of systems requirements
· Experience with valuations of business entities and intangible assets, purchase price allocations, goodwill and long lived asset impairment, and financial analysis and research
· Self-motivated and strong desire to exceed expectations and drive positive change in the organizations
· Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills, solid analytical skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment
