Away Team - Data Center Technician II (L4)
(Data Center/Critical Infrastructure)

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for Data Center Technicians to join our team within infrastructure operations with special emphasis on working in and starting up new AWS regions globally. Scope of work includes rack and server installation, troubleshooting and repairing servers with hardware and network issues. Work will involve hardware diagnostic and replacement of failed components. Knowledge of logistics processes and cabling is advantageous. They will be involved in recruiting and training the new regions permanent staff. Must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision and handle multiple priorities. Must be willing to travel both domestically (US) and internationally with travel 40-60% of the time

Technician will provide operational support to new Data Centers clusters. They'll be responsible for day to day incident management of servers and networking equipment, project work, and capacity management. The engineer will work closely with the Data Center Manager on project scheduling and directing work for other technicians and vendors.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· All candidates should exhibit the following:
· Ability to exhibit good written and oral communication skills
· An Advanced understanding of Computer Hardware, including troubleshooting and repair skills.
· A Working understanding of Linux Operating Systems.
· A Working understanding of Computer Networking.
· A Working understanding of Storage Devices.
· Experience in recruiting and training new employees
· Knowledge of AWS rack install procedures
· Knowledge of cabling standards and processes
· Basic knowledge of DCEO processes including rack power up
· Knowledge of AWS logistics processes
· Willingness to assist in Logistics and DCEO when required
· Knowledge of all aspects of starting up a new region in AWS
· Experience in recruiting and training data center technicians
· Proven experience in problem solving and addressing customer service related issues by working with the customer and other internal teams
· A valid driver's license and Passport
· Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide afterhours support as needed
· Willingness to travel 40-60% of the time

· Physical Requirements:
o Candidates should be able to lift up to 50lbs and may need to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
