DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Engineering & Facilities team keeps all our equipment in excellent working order, from printers to fully automated sortation systems.
You will be looking after the automated systems within our buildings, helping with fault finding, leading process improvements and will be involved in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Besides your day-to-day activities, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in new projects and innovate. You will be a key part of a highly skilled team and thrive in delivering high-quality results and always be on the lookout for improvements.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for controls systems design, specification, simulation, testing, installation, start-up assistance and commissioning at one of our sites. The extent of your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
• Perform inspection, testing, and commissioning of the automated systems, such as high speed sorters, tilt tray sorters, tote sorters, automated packing systems, robotics, conveyance, cameras and scanners and the related controls systems.
• Work individually and as part of a team to develop new products, support existing products, test and evaluate equipment.
• Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers.
• Have oversight of panel design and layout, bill of materials and wiring scheme for your site.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications and skills:

The successful candidate will have:
• PLC programming and implementation experience with one of the following: Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Momentum, AutomationDirect, Mitsubishi, Omron, Aromat, Toshiba, etc.
• Experience with SQL using MySQL, Oracle, Windows SLQ or similar.
• Ability to rapidly develop and/or modify scripts in Perl, Python or similar languages.
• Project management, organization and problem solving skills with a drive for results and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to be able to operate with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work in a fast paced and growing European and global environment where travel is required.

Preferred qualifications and skills:
• Understanding of Unix/Linux/Cygwin/Window.
• Understanding of TCP Networking.
• M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or other related engineering degree.
• Knowledge of at least one other EU language would be an asset.
