DESCRIPTION

The Data Center Construction Estimating and Cost Control (CECC) team is part of a larger, highly creative and driven team dedicated to deploying our continuously evolving Amazon data center facilities. As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for providing cost estimates for conceptual designs and new region expansion projects and develop budgets for new projects in existing regions across a portfolio of fast paced construction projects. Here, success is measured against the possible, not the probable.

As a Construction Estimator, you will be involved in the full life cycle of construction projects and working with highly motivated experts from design, construction, procurement, finance and legal team to deliver efficient and innovative data centers. You will help drive multimillion dollar projects utilizing Amazon Leadership principles including frugality and insist on the highest standards. Success as a Construction Estimator (US) is measured by:
· Utilizing tools and templates for various levels of estimates and project types including risk assessment
· Utilizing and managing repository for historical data including cost performance metrics in comparison to estimate
· Analyzing and providing timely feedback of vendor proposals using AWS benchmark data
· Validating large or complex changes with regards to cost impacts
· Managing revision control of scope and estimate for new designs and innovations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Windows Power User skill set, proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and estimating software such as CostX
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Demonstrated experience developing and justifying budgets.
· Experience with Data Center or other mission critical construction environments
· Ability to create and maintain processes for project documentation
· Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs with no impact on quality and reliability.
· Possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and be able to maintain high quality standards.
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying or equivalent and 5+ years of experience in construction estimating/cost control field
· Knowledge of MEP and ASC (Architectural, Structural, and Civil) cost elements - data center experience a plus.
· Experience building or expanding estimating or cost control programs across a large organization
· Experience leading and training a team
· Experience and ability to interpret contract terms, conditions and exhibits as applicable to project requirements
