The Security Intelligence team, part of Information Security at Amazon, owns platforms for the monitoring of and response to malicious activity on the Amazon network. We collect and process data from all parts of Amazon's massive, worldwide service-oriented architecture. Our challenges are broad and deep -- we need to build flexible, secure, scalable, high-performance and robust software and services. We have all of the challenges you'd expect such as high scale, big data, and a need to never go down. In addition to these challenges we also have the security aspect. We protect customer data from adversaries that want it.

We are seeking Business Intelligence Engineers to join our team in Information Security dedicated to enabling our organization to perform its most critical functions at Amazon's scale.
The ideal candidate will draw upon advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills, and a passion for creating maintainable, highly reliable, distributed systems which operate 24/7/365. You will work with analytic tools, can write excellent SQL scripts, can partner with customers to answer key business questions, and you are an advocate for your customers. Successful members of this team collaborate effectively with internal end-users, cross-functional teams, and technical support/sustaining engineering teams to solve problems, implement new solutions, and deliver successfully against high operational standards of system availability and reliability. Key job duties and responsibilities:
· Implement reports, KPI dashboards and metrics decks which distill down complex business problems in measurable and actionable insights
· Work closely with engineering team to improve data quality
· Manipulate/mine data from database tables (Hive, S3, SQS, Data Warehouse, Log files)
· Assist with ad hoc report generation and data analysis for customers
· Ability to write script (e.g. Ruby, Python) which would identify gaps in our processes and give the team the ability to solve these issues with your root cause analysis
· Help set the long-term vision for the team and decide on the best data analytics technologies to use

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent experience
· Experience with Database (RDBMS/NoSQL) scaling challenges, data modeling and query optimization
· Advanced knowledge and expertise with SQL, Linux and OLAP and data warehousing concepts
· Experience operating in large NoSQL environments
Self-directed, ability to multi-task, sharp analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment
