Job description

DESCRIPTION

Where will Amazon's growth come from in a year? In five? Which product lines are staged to quintuple in size, and which ones are mature? Are we investing enough in our infrastructure, or too much? How will our customers react to changes in prices, or selection, or delivery times?
These are among the most important questions in Amazon today. There's a team dedicated to using data to answer these questions, and it needs a driven, analytical talent.
Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) owns Amazon's global inventory planning systems: we decide what, when, where, and how much we should buy to meet Amazon's business goals and to make our customers happy. We do this for millions of items, for hundreds of product lines worth billions of dollars of inventory world-wide. Our systems are built entirely in-house, and are on the cutting edge in automated large scale supply chain planning and optimization systems.
This role will help SCOT and Amazon break new ground in long-range forecasting: we need someone to own the development of data models and analysis to predict how each one of Amazon's business will grow and change over the long-term. As a BIE, the individual will be responsible for architecting the data pipeline and owning analysis for systems that leverage SCOT's time-series modelling, discrete choice algorithms, longitudinal behavioral research techniques, and machine learning technologies. The BIE in this role will design and support systems that generate multi-billion dollar predictions of the highest level of visibility and importance.
