DESCRIPTION

As a Fiber Engineer within the America's Transport Services Team, you will have the exciting opportunity to help design, engineer, and maintain records surrounding our fiber optic infrastructure. The ideal candidate will posses a possess a technical background with a strong working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and should also have a demonstrated ability to create drawings, scopes of work and other necessary technical documentation. He/she should have a demonstrated ability to think logically about technical challenges, with the ability to break down and resolve issues independently.

· Experience working in GIS Systems
· Create Engineering Documents, Single Line Drawings and Cable Routing Schematics
· Ingest and Audit GIS data for completeness and accuracy
· Understanding of Underground Construction Techniques
· Understanding of Inside Plant Cabling and Routing
· Interface with internal (Data Center Engineering, Business Developers, Deployment Engineers) and external stakeholders (Engineering Firms, Construction Vendors)
· Conduct audits of existing cabling infrastructure within the region
· Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
· Ability to work across multiple time zones
· Willing to travel 10-25% of the time

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· The right person will be technical and analytical, possess 1-3 years of GIS or networking experience or has equivalent education
· Attention to detail is essential
· Two years experience with GIS Systems or equivalent education
· Experience with other drawing platforms (CAD, Visio, OmniGraffle)
· Experience with standard Office applications (Excel, Word, Google Earth, etc) and Operating Systems (Windows, OSX)
· Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must
· Must maintain valid driver's license
