Job description

DESCRIPTION

As an AWS Business Analyst you will help build and support the culture of data-driven decision-making within the AWS Network Scaling and Deployment (NSD) organization.

For AWS customers, the "cloud" offers a low-cost, virtual, ephemeral, and scalable compute and storage infrastructure. Linking cloud's physical resources is a complex network of interdependent systems and processes. The Network Scaling team strives to improve our network scaling capability such that it becomes a strategic differentiator, setting a world-class standard for network scaling capability, efficiency, and quality. A foundational element for this effort is expanding our business intelligence capability to analyze and track the end to end physical and virtual processes and resources necessary to ensure that AWS customers have the right network capacity, at the right time, at the lowest cost.

This high impact role will have an opportunity to provide data based insight that drives key decision making, while helping to drive our business intelligence execution to the next level, including metrics identification and creation, pattern and statistical analysis, defining business requirements for improved workflow measurement and instrumentation, metadata definitions, as well as the creation of reporting dashboards. The role requires someone who loves data, understands enterprise information systems, and has a very strong business sense.

Responsibilities

* You will work with AWS Infrastructure, engineering and finance teams to define metrics and analytics requirements and then deliver flexible, scalable reporting solutions from end-to-end, including harvesting fine granularity data and transforming it into easily consumable, clear visualizations that drive data-driven decision making for the AWS Network Scaling and Deployment organization.
* Produce regular reports, metrics and trend analysis and recommendations for improvement based on the analysis.
* Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis in response to business requirements.
* Write database queries or scripts to gather information from a variety of source systems.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* An above average passion for numbers, data and challenges.
* High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
* Superior verbal and written communications skills.
* An ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired and ambiguity is the norm.
* A composed, poised and professional demeanor with a bias for action and ownership.
* A history of teamwork and willingness to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done.
* Proven analytical and quantitative skills (includes the ability to effectively use tools such as Excel and Tableau) and an ability to use hard data and metrics to test hypothesis and develop project business cases.
* Comfortable taking loosely defined business questions and translating them into clearly defined technical/data specifications.

Make every future a success.
