Amazon is investing heavily in growing our advertising business by building state-of-the-art systems capable of delivering long-term grown within retail and marketplace settings. We deliver billions of ad impressions and millions of clicks daily, generating a unique opportunity to push the methodological and technological boundaries of machine learning-based systems. Driven by our broad mandate to innovate in building world class self-service performance advertising products, we use behavioral and ad content information to build systems that drive product discovery, sales, and customer delight.

This team is specifically responsible for the machine learning technology powering the Sponsored Products (SP) platform including ad sourcing, search query understanding, ad relevance, ranking, pricing mechanisms, and ad targeting. Our technology enables thousands of brands, sellers, and authors to introduce their products to millions of customers and relies on technologies including traditional machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, and experimental design. We are growing at an unprecedented rate with virtually unlimited potential for fundamental contributions in solving difficult technical challenges.

We are interesting in hiring the top scientists in the fields of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Physics, and Operations Research. We are particularly interested in those scientists with expertise in deep learning, reinforcement learning, and natural language processing (including search & information retrieval).

Major responsibilities
· Use machine learning and data analysis to deliver scalable solutions to business problems.
· Build machine learning agents capable of automating and optimizing key processes in the advertising business
· Design, develop, and evaluate state-of-the-art innovations in machine learning systems
· Work closely with software engineering teams to drive scalable real-time models
· Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses and model development
· Track business goals and generate management reports
· Research new machine learning approaches to all aspects of the sponsored products business

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Basic Qualifications
· Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Physics, or Operations Research with specialization in machine learning and associated application areas (i.e., natural language processing, time-series analysis, computer vision).
· Breadth and depth in ML learning algorithm knowledge including deep learning and reinforcement learning
· 3+ years of relevant machine learning and natural language processing experience in academic and/or industry settings
· Experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and Java.
· Experience with statistical software (i.e., R, Matlab, Stata)
· Good communication and presentation skills
