Overview

The Manager of Software Quality Assurance will exhibit Lean-Agile principles and best practices, leading teams by example. The Manager of Software Quality Assurance has personal responsibility for the coaching and career development of direct reports, takes responsibility for eliminating impediments and actively evolves systems and best practices used by the teams to increase quality, productivity, value delivery and employee engagement. The Manager of Software Quality Assurance should be comfortable with and experienced in collaborating with technical teams, understanding complex systems, to support high quality code, components and solutions meet the quality expectations of the organization. A summary of responsibilities ishighlighted below.

Responsibilities

Personnel and Team Development

· Attract, recruit, and retain capable Software Quality Engineers.
· Work with the Software Quality Engineers empowering them to coach and mentor their scrum team members providing the tools, techniques, training and experience required to assure quality standards are met
· Ensure the Software Quality Engineers understand the complexities of the system their team is working on
· Perform career counseling and personal development.
· Listen and support teams in problem identification, root cause analysis, and decision-making.
· Eliminate impediments and evolve systems and practices in support of Lean-Agile development.
· Have control of assigning individuals to teams, assist with addressing issues that teams cannot resolve, and make personnel changes where necessary.
· Evaluate performance, provide guidance and corrective actions.
· Be responsible for working with teams ensuring best practices are being followed
· Serve as Agile coach and advisor to Agile Teams.

Program Execution

· Promote adoption of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
· Reinforce the Essential SAFe practices
· Participate in Inspect and Adapt (I&A) workshops. Support teams by helping them remove systemic impediments and implementing continuous improvement backlog items.
· Assist the with PI Planning Readiness and Pre- and Post- PI Planning activities
· Participate in PI planning, System Demos and Solution Demos.

Quality delivery

· Understand, teach, or sponsor technical skills development to support high-quality code, components, systems, and solutions.
· Work closely with the System Architects helping the teams design for testability.
· Help ensure all teams follow the Acceptance Test Driven Development process.
· Identify key quality metrics ensuring all teams report metrics in a consistent manner.
· Empower Software Quality Engineers to build partnerships with users, partners and internal or external stakeholders to ensure the quality output of the team meets the organizations expectations.
· Work with Architects, Product Managers and Product Owners identifying areas of risk across the Agile Release Train.
· Continuously assist in aligning teams to the system mission and vision.

Qualifications

· Hands on experience with agile development methodologies, SAFe experience preferred
· Leading SAFe Certification preferred
· Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner.
· 3+ years’ experience managing teams of 8+ resources, including remote resources
· 8+ years’ experience in enterprise software development
· Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
· Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· BS or MS degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline.
