Team Description

Amadeus, world leader in the field of IT solutions for the travel industry, has been building its reputation of technological excellence thanks to its wide range of products fulfilling highest quality standard.

The revenue management division is in charge of the portfolio of products dedicated to the optimization of airline revenue, a field in constant evolution, where state of the art scientific solutions are combined with the latest IT techniques to provide strategic advantages in a fiercely competitive market.

The Yield Generation, Forecast & Dynamic Pricing team develops and maintains the core pieces of the forecast engine used to predict the purchase probability and volume of every product sold by the airlines.

Main Responsibilities

One of the unexpected challenge faced when providing a service as complex as a cutting edge revenue management system is to provide an intuitive interface to allow revenue management analysts to understand the outcome of the application and interacts with it. Indeed, the possibility for the end user to implement easily his own business strategy in the system and to simulate its impact is one of the most important trigger conditioning the adoption of the product.

Conclusions of previous studies have suggested that we could improve the user experience by implementing a more flexible business rule engine. Drools, which is a mainstream BRMS written in Java and supported by Redhat, has been selected as a promising technology for our specific business case and ecosystem.

The intern will participate in evaluating and prototyping the Drools rule engine in the context of our C++ application. He will have to act proactively on all parts of this project including the study, the design and the validation of the solution.

The successful candidate will have to:

• Study how to benefit from a more flexible rule engine in our current product

• Act proactively on all parts of the project up to the conception of a prototype

• Evaluate carefully impacts and side effects when integrated in current architecture

This will be the opportunity for the successful candidate to join a team of passionate developers, to contribute to an industrial-scale software project and to acquire experience on the full development cycle from specification to post-implementation.

Requirements

• High ambition and enthusiasm for software development

• Open mind and very good communication skills

• Basic knowledge of at least one Object Oriented language (e.g. C++ or Java)

• Interest on software optimization and cloud computing

• Notions of algorithmic would be a plus
