JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares monthly financial statements on an IFRS basis, including completion of ECCS submissions to AGCS. Monitor changes to IFRS reporting requirements and ensure compliance with accounting policy.
Prepares quarterly and annual statutory financial statements (Yellow books) for the insurance companies and completes reconciliations between IFRS and statutory reporting. Drafts Footnote disclosures and management discussions and analysis for regulatory reporting. Monitors changes to IFRS reporting requirements and ensure compliance with accounting policy.
Participates in daily close meetings and assists in monitoring timeliness of close processes and identifying items for discussion or resolution.
Prepares consolidated audited financial statements and coordinates audit requests within Finance, Underwriting and Claims.
Responds to state inquiries about financial results and coordinates state examinations of the insurance companies as needed.
Archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements.
KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Degree: Accounting, Finance or Business degree
Certification: CPA Preferred
Minimum 3 to 5 years: Financial Statement preparation
Minimum 3 to 5 years: Relevant insurance accounting experience, including knowledge of US statutory and GAAP accounting principles; knowledge of IFRS is a plus
Knowledge of IFRS/GAAP/Statutory Accounting, with an emphasis on financial reporting
Knowledge of insurance accounting principles, especially for property and casualty companies
Experience with SAP/BW/Cognos and proficient in Microsoft Office products
Data Quality and Reporting: Ensuring compliance of closing, reporting with internal & external requirements
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and processes
Intermediate: Financial analysis skills
