Key responsibilities

 

As a Data Platform Engineer within the Advanced Analytics team in the Chief Data Office Area at Allianz Partners, you will play a critical role in developing and enhancing our cloud infrastructure. 

 

This position is pivotal in enabling our data scientists and machine learning engineers by providing a robust, scalable, and efficient cloud platform. Your responsibilities will include the management of cloud environments, automation of deployment processes, and ensuring high availability of services. You will work in a cross-functional team environment and demonstrate a strong desire to innovate and take ownership of projects.

 

Through this role, you will have the main following responsabilities:
 

•     Cloud Management : Utilize Terraform to manage the cloud environment, including the setup and control of access to various cloud services in a secure and scalable manner.
•    Platform Empowerment: Support and empower data engineers and scientists by optimizing their use of cloud resources, ensuring they can focus on delivering high-value analytics solutions.
•     Infrastructure Development: Actively extend and maintain the cloud infrastructure adopting a cloud-first approach to support evolving business needs.
•     Containerization and Security : Comprehensive knowledge in containerization, network protocols, encryption, and overall security practices.
•    CI/CD Pipelines: Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ensuring seamless code integration and deployment.
•    Microservices Management: Build and manage a highly available cloud platform using Kubernetes, designed for running microservices at scale.
•    Monitoring and Observability: Integrate and maintain sophisticated monitoring and observability tools into the platform to uphold best practices in incident notification and response.
•    Innovation and Ownership: Drive innovation within the team by proposing and implementing new technologies and processes and taking ownership of the platform's reliability and performance.

What you bring

 

•     Prior Experience: Previous experience of at least 2 years as a software engineer or cloud engineer is highly desirable.
•     Technical Expertise: Proven expertise in DevOps toolchains, including Docker, Terraform, DevOps pipeline tools, Git, and Helm Charts; proficiency in Python, shell scripts, and command-line operations within Linux environments; experience with development, automation, and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Ansible, Bash, and GitHub Actions.
•     Soft Skills : Excellent communication skills in English, agility in working environments, and a collaborative spirit in agile and cross-functional teams.
•    Learning and Development: A commitment to continuous personal and professional development, responsive to feedback, and adept at providing constructive feedback.

•    Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.

•    Database Management : Experience in database management including SQL, NoSQL databases, and cloud-based database services - nice to have. 
•    Front-End Development : Familiarity with front-end development technologies and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript, React) - nice to have.
