We are looking for a Global Agriculture Underwriting Lead (m/f/d), based in London.

Your Team

You will join Allianz Commercial’s Global CUO Organization as part of the Property Line of Business, working closely with regional CUOs, Line Managers, Underwriting teams, and key partners such as Allianz Re. Operating in a global, highly collaborative network, you’ll support and steer Agriculture underwriting activities across multiple markets, helping shape a unified and forward‑looking approach to this specialized line.

The Impact You Will Have

In this role, you’ll be at the center of transforming how Agriculture underwriting is executed globally. You will shape the underwriting strategy, set the framework that guides risk selection worldwide, and directly influence the growth and profitability of Agriculture portfolios across regions. Your decisions will drive consistency, performance, and innovation in one of the most technically demanding and strategically important lines of business. This is a highly visible role where your expertise moves markets, elevates underwriting excellence, and empowers teams worldwide.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

Defining and implementing the global Agriculture underwriting strategy, including Risk Appetite and portfolio steering rules.
Analyzing portfolio performance across regions to guide strategic decisions and identify growth opportunities.
Supporting Operating Entities (OEs) in adapting and applying global strategy to local market conditions.
Defining and steering CAT exposure management criteria at global and local levels.
Managing the global limit and authority framework for Agriculture underwriting.
Maintaining market intelligence through regular engagement with OEs, brokers, reinsurers, and key internal stakeholders.
Monitoring P&L performance and supporting OEs with corrective and tactical actions.
Making underwriting decisions on complex referrals in alignment with global strategy and functional rules.
Training, coaching, and developing senior and junior underwriters, and promoting best‑practice harmonization worldwide.

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

Deep expertise in Portfolio Management and Agriculture risk assessment.
Strong strategic orientation with the ability to translate insights into actionable underwriting frameworks.
Experience in multinational underwriting environments and familiarity with global markets.
Solid knowledge of insurance and reinsurance mechanisms.
Excellent communication and presentation skills to influence senior stakeholders.
Competence in project steering, driving cross‑market initiatives to completion.
Advanced skills in pricing and modelling techniques.
Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Academic background in Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Natural Sciences, Economics, Mathematics, or similar.
Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
