GIS Analyst Cat Geospatial Solutions & Analytics (m/f/d) in Munich or Rome at Allianz SE Reinsurance

Job Purpose/ Role
The position is situated  in the Geospatial Solutions & Analytics team of Allianz RE's Nat Cat Risk Management department. In your role, you act as a key contact and subject matter expert for geospatial technology, data and analytics to support and enhance the Allianz Group’s decision-making processes across main business domains with a focus on portfolio analytics and location-enabled pricing. 

·  Supporting the development and technical implementation and roll-out of groupwide tooling for advanced geographic exposure analysis to support of portfolio steering and accumulation control processes across Allianz Group
·  Reporting to Group functions and operating entities on accumulation risk and further portfolio aspects from dedicated spatial analysis  
·  Supporting Allianz Group’s technical excellence ambition by supporting Nat Cat pricing projects through geospatial enrichment and data governance
·  Developing and maintaining geospatial data assets for underwriting and pricing use cases
·  Managing small to medium-sized projects, taking ownership of the definition, execution, and delivery phases
·  Supporting implementation of quality standards, best practices and geodata governance in the GIS / Geocoding domain        

Key responsibilities

·  Together with product owner and technical teams, support further development of geospatial tools and automated reporting for Cat portfolio analysis and promote to internal clients ensuring business process improvements
·  Perform regular hot spot analysis to detect, monitor and mitigate unbalanced portfolios  
·  Support CoC Natural Perils on reporting to Allianz Group (Group Underwriting Committee, Group Risk, Global P&C) and OE functions via reports and ad hoc analytics on relevant accumulation scenarios 
·  Provide on the spot consultancy to users on aspects around portfolio analytics, data quality and accumulation monitoring 
·  Streamline business requirements for further feature development and support solution design through functional prototyping, proof-of-concept work and testing
·  Support selected OE pricing projects through geodata enrichment and governance
·  Maintain and update Allianz Re geospatial data repository together with the team, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility
·  Drive innovation through in-house R&D work on new geospatial exposure data assets and / or through evaluation of open and vendor data products
·  Provide training and support to business users on GIS tools and applications
·  Functional business and implementation support of Nat Cat Underwriting and Pricing
·  Development and provisioning of geospatial data and insight to Allianz business functions through the Group's GIS technology stack 
·  Screening and evaluation of 3rd party geospatial data and service providers to enhance internal GIS services
·  Support GIS / Geocoding functional owners at AZ Reinsurance as well as technical service team at AZ Technology in implementing GIS capabilities for OE business functions
·  Support Cat Center of Competence in close collaboration with Cat R&D and the Analytical Hub in Rome to enable technical excellence in OEs via GIS services 
·  Support implementation of quality standards and best practices in our GIS / Geocoding environments

Qualifications

·  University degree / master degree in natural sciences / geoscience, mathematics, data science or related discipline
·  2+ years of professional experience in GIS analysis, preferably within the insurance industry or a related field
·  Knowledge of the (re-)insurance industry 
·  Strong analytical, mathematical and statistical skill set to solve complex analytical problems
·  Expert know-how in working with geospatial technologies and common data-formats to support geospatial solution design and application development
·  Strong skill set in geospatial analytics using desktop GIS tools (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) 
·  Strong programming skills and proven experience in scripting languages (preferably Python) applying geospatial packages and statistical models for large datasets
·  Good knowledge of relational databases (e.g. Oracle, Postgres/PostGIS)
·  Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German and / or other languages as a plus
