We are looking for an ART Senior Actuary, based in London.

Led by the Head of Portfolio Steering & Pricing ART, you will be part of a globally operating diverse group of professionals, including actuaries, modelers, and analysts, based in Munich, London, New York, and Zurich. Fueled by creativity, a pragmatic “can do” attitude, a commitment to technical excellence and collaboration, the team’s mission is to deliver results, analyses and insights that support informed business decisions, create profitable and sustainable risk management solutions for our clients, and drive the continuing success of the Alternative Risk Tranfer (ART) line of business.

 

The Impact You Will Have  

As a Senior Actuary in ART, you will be instrumental in developing bespoke insurance solutions for corporate clients. Your expertise in actuarial analysis, technical pricing, and risk modeling will directly influence the success of the ART portfolio. Collaborating with senior colleagues in ART from various functions, your work directly influences the success of our ART portfolio and ensure we remain at the forefront of the industry. Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • Collaborating with ART Underwriters, Cat Analysts, and Lawyers on new business opportunities as part of a Deal Team. 

  • Supporting the structuring of policies and taking responsibility for data analyses, risk modeling, technical case pricing, and model documentation.

  • Reviewing pricing work of peers and more junior team members.

  • Developing and maintaining portfolio models for specific ART program deals.

  • Engaging regularly with the Allianz Commercial Global Pricing Team to stay updated on pricing tool developments and parameterization, and promoting tool usage in ART's underwriting and pricing process.

  • Driving the maintenance and development of ART's pricing tools such as ARTEMIS, Tracktor, and others.

  • Collaborating with peers from the ART pricing team, ART underwriters, and the Global Pricing Team.

  • Providing training on tools to the relevant ART community.

  • Performing ad hoc analyses of the ART in-force portfolio, contributing to portfolio steering and accumulation management, and supporting management reporting. 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

  • Tertiary qualification (ideally Master), preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics or another quantitative discipline.

  • Qualified Actuary, or nearly qualified Actuary.

  • P&C (re-) insurance and finance know-how and understanding of (re-) insurance products.

  • Hands-on experience in actuarial data analysis, technical case pricing, loss modelling and/or reserving.

  • Exposure to alternative risk transfer business and structured insurance is an asset.

  • Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing)Able to work independently and autonomously.

  • Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations.

  • Exposure to working in an international / virtual environment.

  • Fluency in English, another language would be a plus.

  • Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
