Role Description

The purpose of this role is to contribute towards the delivery of the Accounts Department’s objectives by acting as an effective member of an Accounts Team. An Accounts Assistant supports the provision of accounting, financial reporting and control in line with Company and regulatory standards.


Key Accountabilities

·  Supports the delivery of the accounting and control framework by input to and running systems processes, in accordance with deadlines and standards as set by the team’s customers.
·  Answers queries from both internal and external customers, representing the department, escalating to agreed process as necessary.
·  Carries out reconciliations of the control accounts and systems, correcting any issues arising, escalating where necessary and taking responsibility for resolution. Completes to agreed deadlines and timescales.
·  Develops understanding of the business systems specifically used in the course of their work. Identifies issues, and assists in resolution of issues.
·  Follows agreed process, identifies any issues, suggests improvements and assists in implementation of changes successfully.
·  Ensures timely handling of correspondence received into the department from both external and internal sources.  


Skills and experience


·  Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of other Office systems.
·  Develops understanding of the business systems and processes and how these relate to their processes.
·  Able to adapt to changing needs and priorities.



·  Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent (including Maths and English at grade C or above).
